General Session: 8:00 am - 9:15 am
"Operations Risk Management"
Charles F. Bowman
SVP & Principal Compliance Executive
BANK OF AMERICA
Charlotte, North Carolina
Operational risk enters into the deliverance of all financial products and services and affects the ability to implement strategic decision, to support complex products and to respond to real time market changes. The challenge is to identify and assess it in advance in order to prevent or mitigate loss from the failures of processes, people or systems.
So, what can we do about it? How should we try to measure, monitor, model or mitigate it? Can we get our arms around it in any meaningfully or comprehensive manner? These are some of the questions we will discuss as we look at operational risk management in today's financial services industry.
General Session: 9:30 am - 10:45 am

of an effective oversight process and techniques for problem resolution to help you minimize the risk

Investment advisers have been one of the most lightly regulated of SEC registered entities. Since legislative changes (NSMIA) in 1996 and the formation of the SEC's adviser taskforce, many regulatory changes have been made and more are in process. Plan to attend this session to hear about and discuss these changes and how they will affect affiliates, subsidiaries and "separately identified departments or SIDS" of banks.
