ABA (American Bankers Association) Everything you ever want to know about the banking industry is available on this site from the American Bankers Association. It has links to online news, courses, industry issues, and even a consumer section. Also includes other financial interest resources such as Corporation for American Banking, Bookstore for Bankers, Job Bank Resume Bank and a Products and Services Provider Directory.

ABA (American Bar Association) The other ABA. Here, you can read the current and back issues of two magazines written for the members of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the Association. The Probate & Property Magazine and Real Property, Probate & Trust Journal each contain updates, articles, and comments of interest to attorneys and other professionals in these fields.

ACTEC (The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel) Another great site for information aimed at attorneys who specialize in Trusts and Estates. The "What's New" and "Resources" Sections are free and contain valuable information regarding the activities of the various committees of the College. Learn more about the organization by reviewing the Information section. There is also a private area available to members.

AAEPA (American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys) The site links to free estate planning information for the general public containing subjects like: Estate Planning News; Your Estate Matters; Where There's a Will, There's a Probate and Frequently Asked Questions. You can also search for the address of an Estate Planning Attorney in your area.

BAI (Bank Administration Institute) This site touts itself as the financial services industry's premier provider of information and training. It has numerous links including a great Compliance section, which highlights "Compliance Coach," an online compliance training program (available for a fee). Many of the services and programs require a registration fee, but numerous articles and briefings can be downloaded FREE.

ICBA (Independent Community Bankers of America) This seventy-year-old organization hails itself as the "voice of the nation's community banks". You can read and download the results of the Bank Fee Survey covering, among other items, account fees and ATM fees. It also contains a detailed Tax Study which lists Community Bank tax and administrative relief options. Don't forget to check out the Online Vendor Directory, a convenient one-stop source for community banking products and services.

NAREIT (National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts) The site contains information regarding REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts)and publicly traded real estate. Read the results of the 1999 Real Estate Information Technology Survey, which yielded a variety of findings regarding the business and information strategies and the use of technology. A new feature is the Online Job Bank, which specializes in employment in the real estate industry.

SIA The Securities Industry Association brings together the shared interests of nearly 600 securities firms to accomplish common goals. SIA member-firms (including investment banks, broker-dealers, and mutual fund companies) are active in all U.S. and foreign markets and in all phases of corporate and public finance. Collectively they employ more than 495,000 individuals, representing 97 percent of total employment in securities brokers and dealers.

National Appraiser Registry The National Registry is a fully searchable database containing selected information about the Nation's State certified and licensed real estate appraisers. The Registry contains information about appraisers who currently are, or have been, certified or licensed by a U.S. State, Territory or possession to perform appraisals in connection with Federally-related real estate transactions.

Know-X The site claims to be the most comprehensive source of public information on the Web. The Home Page indicates the service can find all types of public information from real estate filings to death certificates. It appears all the information is fee based. You must open an account before you can initiate any request for information.

Benefits Link This site is the home of the Benefits Buzz, a list of links to employment benefit plan compliance matters. It also has a Q & A section, Employee Benefit Job listings, a Search engine, a Speakers list, message boards and an e-mail directory, all free.

PWBA The home page of the Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration. The site has links to a Library section with speeches, press releases, publications and reports; a Laws & Regs section with links to statutes, regulations, Federal Register documents, and advisory opinions; and a Newsroom section with archived news releases from 1995 and access to ERISA reporting forms.

FDIC Insurance
Deposit Insurance Regs This site contains the text of Part 330 of the FDIC Rules and Regulations which is the section regarding Deposit Insurance Coverage. It has a link to the entire FDIC Rules and Regulations in a searchable format. Check the index for the appropriate section to review the FDIC Insurance coverage for accounts held by a custodian or conservator; revocable and irrevocable trust accounts; accounts held by a depository institution as trustee of an irrevocable trust; and retirement and other employee benefit plan accounts.

Finding Heirs
555-1212 The site allows you to search for telephone numbers for both individuals and businesses in a variety of ways, including through reverse lookups. It also offers fee-based public records searches.

Ancestry.com This site provides free searches for some of its databases including social security death index, phone and address listings and family name message boards. Other more detailed searches are available for a fee.

BigFoot The site provides free searches for telephone numbers and allows you to join for free but more detailed searches have a fee.

InfoSpace InfoSpace Maps, directions, phone numbers, weather and more are available here.

Switchboard This site also has free searches for phone numbers. It is like the site above and does not specialize in "people searches".

WhoWhere The site says it is the way to find people on the Web. WhoWhere allows free searches for phone numbers and Web-wide searches for individuals.

YAHOO People The site provides free searches for phone numbers and email addresses. It has a link to USSearch.com, which offers more detailed searches for a fee.

US Federal Trade Commission The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) works to ensure that the nation’s markets are vigorous, efficient and free of restrictions that harm consumers. Experience demonstrates that competition among firms yields products at the lowest prices, spurs innovation and strengthens the economy. Markets also work best when consumers can make informed choices based on accurate information.

National Fraud Information Center The NFIC is the only nationwide toll-free hotline for consumers to get advice about telephone solicitations and report possible telemarketing fraud to law enforcement agencies.

The Fraud Advisory Panel (UK) The Panel's role is to alert the nation to the immense social and economic damage caused by fraud and help both public and private sectors to fight back. It is dedicated to a holistic approach and the long view.

Computer Security Institute

FBI Internet Fraud Complaint Center IFCC's mission is to address fraud committed over the Internet. For victims of Internet fraud, IFCC provides a convenient and easy-to-use reporting mechanism that alerts authorities of a suspected criminal or civil violation.

EthicsLine An anonymous hotline is a tremendously valuable tool for uncovering illegal or unethical behavior in the workplace.

Banking Law This the FDIC Regulation and Examination site which has links to Compliance and Trust examination materials including the manual for field examiners who conduct Compliance and CRA examinations and the Trust Examination Manual.

FindLaw.com A comprehensive legal reference site which lets you search legal-related subject including law firms and lawyers, consultants and experts, and state and federal laws.

Law.com This site contains general legal information. No specific trust or compliance areas but the Today's Spotlight and the News section are worth checking on a regular basis for trust and compliance related articles and stories.

Laws Online  In addition to providing links to Federal and State laws, the Directories section allows you to search for an attorney or a private investigator.

FRB is Integrating the Examination Frequency for Trust and Transfer Agency Examinations with Safety and Soundness Exams - The frequency and scope of examination coverage of fiduciary activities at banking organizations supervised by the FRB should be based on the guidelines provided by the FRB. State Laws
Trust & Estate law links The site contains general legal information regarding Trust and Estate law. To locate the state law area go to the Primary Materials subsection of the Trust and Estates section.

Tax Matters
U.S. Tax Code This site allows you to access the complete text of the IRS Code in a variety of ways. Links are imbedded in the text and it has a search engine. You can search by Code section or by key words. The Code is over 6,000 normal print pages in length and this site makes locating specific information much easier.

IRS Regulations You can review all Tax Regulations issued since August 1, 1995 with references to plain language summaries. A link to the IRS Bulletins is also included along with an Archive section that allows downloads of previous regulations.

IRS Forms & Pubs The site allows you to download current and prior years' IRS Forms and Instructions. You can search for the proper form by name, number or date. It has a link to State Tax Forms and shows you how to e-file for a quicker refund.

Estate & Gift Tax laws The site links you to Title 26 of the IRS Code. The provisions relating to Estate and Gift Taxes are found in Subpart B. The entire Title is searchable. The Notes link allows you to compare the provisions of the 1986 Code with the 1939 version.



Trust Institution Search
Rpt. of Trust Assets Search The site contains various types of trust information and has a link to the Trust Institution Search, which is a database of both FDIC insured and non-FDIC insured institutions with trust powers. You can search by institution name, city, state, county or FDIC certificate number.

Trust Institution database The site contains information on all institutions that file the FFIEC Annual Report of Trust Assets. It contains data on the following topics: personal and employee benefit activities, collective investment funds, corporate trust activities, affiliated investment advisors, and fiduciary income.

Trust Manual/Rating
Asset Management This booklet provides an overview of the asset management business, its risks, and sound risk management processes.

Conflicts of Interest This booklet provides guidance to examiners evaluating the risk management practices banks have in place to control conflicts of interest and self-dealing.

Custody Services This booklet addresses the fundamentals of securities custody and related services, and provides guidance for examining those activities in national banks.

Uniform Laws
Fiduciaries ActThe site is the Uniform Business and Financial Laws Locator that has links to state statutes that correspond to Uniform Laws. The states that have enacted the Fiduciaries Act are listed with links to the specific statutes. You can of course use this site to locate other Uniform Laws that might have been enacted in a particular state or states.

Fraudulent Conveyance Act This site links you automatically to an index of the states that have enacted the Act. It also uses the Uniform Business and Financial Laws Locator that lets you search for other acts of interest.

Fraudulent Transfer Act The Fraudulent Transfer Act is the successor to the Fraudulent Conveyances Act. The link lists all states that have enacted the Act and allows you to view and download the statutes.

Management of Institutional Funds Act The link takes you directly to a list of the states that have implemented the Act. You can also view the original Act without any non-uniform amendments that might have been added.

Principal and Income Act ('62) The site lists the states that have enacted a version of the Act and also contains the original version of the 1997 Act that revised the 1962 Act that revised the 1931 Act. The industry comments link takes you to comments of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, the organization that drafts most of the proposed Uniform Laws. The comments are interesting and informative as they indicate what issues were discussed and what language was considered in the drafting process.

Trustees' Power ActThe site lists the 16 states that have enacted a version of the Act and has links to the specific state statutes.

Trusts Act Six states, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Nevada, North Carolina and South Dakota along with the Virgin Islands have enacted the Uniform Trusts Act. The site links you to the various state statutes.

Uniform Prudent Investors Act Read the original draft of the Act was proposed by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. The document includes a comment section containing the thoughts of the drafters as they decided the specific language of the Act. The comments are very helpful in the interpretation of the Act.
